Marquesa de Alorna Grande Reserva Branco
Marquesa de Alorna results from unique weather conditions and the selection of the best grape varieties each year. This 2021 harvest originated from four grape varieties coming from the transitional area between Lezíria and Charneca.
The viticultural year was considered normal and dry. The relatively rainy winter and the precipitation that occurred in the months of April and June allowed water not to be a limiting factor for the normal development of the vine until a fairly advanced stage of the cycle. During the months of July and August, there was no precipitation, and the temperatures recorded were mild, ideal for balanced ripening, with the harvest starting on August 9th.
The grapes, grown using integrated production methods, are manually harvested and separately placed in 18kg boxes. They are destemmed and gently pressed in long and low-pressure cycles during the morning. After the must clarification, fermentation begins in new French oak barrels of 225 and 300 liters, remaining on the fine lees for 10 months with batonnage. The best barrels are selected, and a blend is made with 60% of other grape varieties that age in stainless steel. After bottling, the wine matures in the bottle for a minimum period of one year.
