West India Madeira 10 Years Old Reserve Verdelho Madeira Wine

$0.00

This 100% Verdelho Madeira comes from Madeira Island, Portugal, about 900 km southwest of Lisbon, where volcanic basalt soils and a subtropical climate with mild temperatures (22°C in summer, 16°C in winter) create ideal conditions for viticulture. Vineyards in Seixal, Ponta Delgada, São Vicente, and Arco de São Jorge use traditional Latada or Espalier training systems. The grapes are hand-harvested from mid-September to mid-October in selective passes, then destemmed, crushed, and pressed. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks at 16–18°C and is halted after 6–7 days by adding neutral grape spirit (96%) to preserve natural sweetness. The wine is aged in American and French oak casks under the traditional Canteiro system, then racked, fined, filtered, blended, and bottled, resulting in a refined, balanced Madeira with freshness and depth.
