Quatro Cravos

Sociedade Agrícola Quatro Cravos, a family-owned winery with roots stretching back to 1722, embodies the soul of Bairrada. This historic estate cultivates a diverse tapestry of vineyards across the region, each parcel a unique expression of the land. From the crisp, invigorating influence of the coast to the more nuanced, earth-driven character of inland sites, the vineyards weave a complex narrative into every bottle.

Clay, clay-limestone marls, and sandy soils contribute a fascinating interplay of textures and minerality. This diversity, coupled with the interplay of maritime breezes and inland warmth, allows Quatro Cravos to produce a captivating range of wines, from vibrant, aromatic whites to age-worthy reds of profound complexity.

The winery champions indigenous varieties, showcasing the unique character of Bical, Maria-Gomes, Arinto, and Cercial in elegant white wines. For reds, Baga, Touriga Nacional, and Tinta Roriz express the full spectrum of Bairrada's terroir – from the vibrant fruit and refreshing acidity of younger vintages to the layered complexity and nuanced earthiness of wines destined for cellaring.

Guiding this journey is a team of passionate winemakers, led by renowned oenologist Nuno Bastos. With a deep understanding of Bairrada's nuances, Nuno ensures each vintage reflects the unique character of the vineyards. Raquel Dias, the vineyard manager and resident oenologist, brings a wealth of knowledge and a commitment to sustainable viticulture, nurturing the vineyards with respect for the land and a focus on long-term health.

Quatro Cravos embodies the essence of Bairrada – a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation. The winery meticulously crafts wines that are both a reflection of the past and a vibrant expression of the present. Each bottle offers a taste of history, a sense of place, and the unwavering passion of a family dedicated to preserving the soul of this remarkable region.
